From Idea to Impact — an Innovation Orientation
An orientation putting innovation in front of second-year MBBS students as something relevant to a career in health sciences.
The session introduced innovation as the process of turning ideas into solutions that create value and get implemented, and made the case for it in terms of societal impact, operational efficiency, new markets and new products and services.
It set out what innovation needs to take hold: a supportive environment, teaching practices that encourage it, and the personal qualities and mindsets that go with it. The role of incubation centres in providing mentorship, funding and resources was covered, along with the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and the Institution’s Innovation Councils, and the Sri R L Jalappa Innovation and Incubation Cell as the institutional route.
