Be an Innovator — Join the Movement
An orientation on innovation and incubation, and on the national and institutional machinery that exists to support a student with an idea.
The lecture defined innovation as translating ideas into goods or services that create value, and incubation as nurturing early-stage ideas and startups, then made the case for innovation in terms of economic growth, societal change and the critical thinking it demands.
It covered what incubation centres offer — infrastructure, expert guidance, mentorship, funding and networks — and how a higher education institution can encourage innovation by building incubation centres and running hackathons and workshops. The National Innovation and Start-up Policy and the Institution’s Innovation Council were presented as the frameworks behind that.
