Ideathon’24 — Guest Lecture and the Level Up Workshop

A guest lecture on innovation and entrepreneurship in the morning, and a leadership and team-building workshop in the afternoon.

Dr Anand Thirunavukarasou spoke from 11:30 to 13:00 on innovation and entrepreneurship, arguing that innovation and incubation are the two things entrepreneurship rests on: innovation creates the ideas, incubation supplies the support and resources that turn them into businesses, and entrepreneurs take them to market. Around 400 students attended, from MBBS, physiotherapy, allied health sciences and nursing.

The question and answer session drew detailed questions on the mechanisms he had described. The speaker was felicitated with a certificate and memento by Dr Prabhakar K, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.

In the afternoon, from 14:00 to 16:00 in the Physiology AV Hall, the Level Up workshop ran leadership and team-building activities organised by students and mentored by members of the Innovation and Incubation Cell. It opened with an icebreaker in which participants had ten minutes to introduce themselves and were then asked to recall as many names as they could, followed by creative self-introductions and team problem-solving.
