Guest Lecture — Empowering Innovation and Entrepreneurial Growth in Karnataka
Dr Veeranna S of the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre on what it takes to move research into a company in Karnataka — funding, talent, infrastructure and policy.
The lecture set out the innovation and entrepreneurial landscape in Karnataka and the factors that sustain it: funding, talent, infrastructure and supportive policy. It showcased the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre as a hub driving work in the life sciences, and Karnataka’s biotechnology sector as a contributor to India’s bioeconomy.
The presentation closed on the argument that Karnataka offers researchers a route into entrepreneurship, and that with the right support, mentorship and funding, research can be turned into commercial success — put as "Innovate, Patent, Fund, and Scale — The Karnataka Way!"
The session was organised by the R&D Cell and the Sri R L Jalappa Innovation and Incubation Cell with the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics.
